Substance Misuse Programs in Commercial Aviation: Safety First
The purpose of this research is to examine whether substance use disorders (SUDs) in airline pilots can be predicted based on personality traits and quality-of-life factors. Specifically, we are interested in learning about how these traits and factors interact and could aid in early intervention, providing employers with insights into pilots' mental health risks. While the FAA supports mental health treatment, restrictive regulations may discourage pilots from seeking help, highlighting the need for proactive monitoring and support. You are being asked to participate in this research because you are an airline pilot in the United States with a minimum of one year flying for an airline.
