Logistics

Lodging
PMHC has secured a group rate for a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express DC Downtown. The rate for 3/11/24 is $199 and the rate for 3/12/24 is $209. The average price for both nights is $204.

To book your room, click here to be taken to the hotel's Groups and Events page. Once there, click "Book Now", then select either the night of 3/11/24, or both 3/11/24 and 3/12/24. You should see "PMHC Advocacy Day" listed under "Your Preferred Rate". Proceed with the checkout as usual.

The choice to stay for one or two nights is yours. We understand many attendees will be returning on the evening of 3/12 after the day's activities have concluded. For those who wish to stay two nights, PMHC will be hosting a get together on the evening of 3/12, details TBD.

Travel to DC

We recommend attendees arrive sometime on Monday March 11th. This will hopefully allow you to attend our reception on the evening of 3/11 and make sure you are ready to go on Tuesday morning. It is your choice as to whether you stay for two nights or one. If you stay for one night, please allow extra time on the morning of 3/12 to check out of the hotel before we depart for the Capitol.

The closest airport to Downtown DC is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), followed by Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI). DCA and IAD are directly linked to Washington DC's metro system. PMHC will provide travel to and from the host hotel and the Capitol on 3/12.

Attendees are responsible for securing their own travel arrangements, but carpool options may be available for those in driving distance. You can indicate your interest in carpooling in the attendee survey. If you are passionate about aviation mental health reform but are unable to afford all or part of this trip, you may be able to apply for financial assistance from PMHC that can reimburse or offset some travel and lodging costs. You can make that request in the Attendee Survey.

Attendee Survey

After you RSVP, you should receive all of these details along with a link to our attendee survey. This survey will ask you things like your address (to determine your Congressional district), as well as other logistical questions, and some questions to help u get to know you a little better. It will help us to know a little bit about everyones' background and interests so that we can schedule groups that are most representative of our diverse perspectives.

Preparation
PMHC will provide you with training before the event so you feel comfortable speaking with members of Congress and their staff. This will include several virtual meetings leading up to the event, as well as in-person sessions on the night of the 11th and morning of the 12th. PMHC will provide you with materials, talking points and everything else you need to feel ready.

As we get closer to the event, you will be shared on our Advocacy Day mobile app. This app will keep track of your event schedule and help you get to all of your planned meetings.

The dress code is business professional. We will be doing a lot of walking between House and Senate office buildings, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
