PMHC is an affiliate of Five Acres

PMHC Staff

The PMHC team is dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to its clients. Graduate and post-graduate interns and trainees in psychology, marriage and family and clinical social work provide the majority of counseling services. All counselors receive extensive training and work under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals.

 

Executive Director: David Swanson Hollinger

Clinic Director: Marilyn Owen

 

David Swanson Hollinger, MSW, MPH
David Swanson Hollinger has worked in management and direct services for the child welfare and health care fields for over seventeen years.  He has extensive experience in program development, strategic planning and strengths based leadership in agencies and programs serving children and families.  He is currently executive director of Pasadena Mental Health Center and director of program development of Five Acres – The Boys’ and Girls’ Aid Society of Los Angeles County.

Marilyn J. Owen, LMFT
After 12 years as an educator, Marilyn Owen received her MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute and began working with LA County's most troubled children and adults.  Since that time she has provided, supervised, and trained staff to provide intensive treatment in community-based, residential and inpatient settings.  This experience includes a close collaboration with numerous county and local agencies to provide quality mental health care and social services.  In addition to her public sector work, Marilyn has a private practice and has facilitated many personal growth workshops grounded in mythology, dream work and the creative process.

Eden Garcia-Balis, MS, LMFT
Eden Garcia-Balis has been in the mental health for 10 years in a variety of capacities.  She is a bilingual, licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a strong commitment to supporting the healthy development to adults, teenagers and children.  Eden has counseled children and  teens in a clinic, school based setting and private practice. Currently she is the Clinical Coordinator of Intern Training at PMHC where she chooses the interns, monitors their placement, assigns cases and deals with client concerns.  Eden is passionate about her work at PMHC, enjoying the time she spends with interns, assisting them in navigating and balancing the everyday pressures they experience at a mental health agency.   

Lambers Fisher, M.A.
Lambers B. Fisher Jr. is a graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary’s Marriage & Family Therapy program.  His commitment to strengthening marriage and family relationships can be seen beyond the walls of PMHC as he is also the Director of Counseling Ministries at Lake Avenue Church.  Lambers has been a valued part of Pasadena Mental Health Center family since 2002 and is currently the coordinator of the First Offender program – working in association with the Pasadena Police Department to not only reduce juvenile criminal behavior in the community, but to strengthen family supports for a better future.

Arthea J. Larson, M.A., LMFT
Arthea Larson has twenty-four years experience designing and managing residential / mental health programs for special needs children, adolescents and young adults in Louisiana and California.  A graduate in Clinical Psychology from West Virginia University, Arthea is committed to educating and inspiring staff in the application of clinically sound mental health treatment with children, adolescents and adults.  Arthea is currently the Director of Training and Staff Development at Five Acres and acts as Program Liaison between PMHC and Five Acres.
